A new generation of USB interface Intel will release high-speed transmission connector next year
2021-09-29 16:46
Semiconductor chip maker Intel will release a new AlpineRidgeThunderbolt interface with extremely high transmission speeds of up to 40Gbps. Compared with today's FalconRidgeThunderbolt chips, AlpineRidgeThunderbolt has twice the bandwidth of the former, which is a huge improvement on USB3.0. Although the transmission speed of the AlpineRidgeThunderbolt is faster, the energy consumption of the AlpineRidge is obviously reduced, and the energy consumption of the current model is only 50%.
It is understood that Intel's new connector will be released next year, and AlpineRidge will have 4 models, namely TBT, DP1.2, USB3.0 and HDMI2.0 based on LSPCon. AlpineRidge supports PCI-egen3 and has two SKUs, namely daisy chain dual port connector and LP single interface connector.
The final design of the connector has not yet been determined. It will have a 100W system charging function, higher bandwidth, smaller form factor and backward compatibility.
In addition, there are reports that the AlpineRidge can support two 4K simultaneous display and provide system charging function at the same time.
If you want to know more about the connector industry information and the latest market situation, please pay attention to the news of the connector.
